Lyons Sculpture Trail

The Sculpture Trail is a path, a journey, a hunt, a mystery an interactive story. 25 Outdoor Sculptures exhibited in the parks and downtown area of the Town of Lyons are linked together by a walking trail. A hand carried guidebook reveals the trail and directs the viewers on an interactive art journey. The Trail is traveled on foot and takes 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete.

Tubing in Lyons

When summertime warms up the Lyons valley many float the St. Vrain River on an innertube. Tubing is a Lyons favorite pastime and kids and adults alike have been riding the cool waters of the St. Vrain for years. Meadow Park and Bohn Park are both great launching areas for a fun water adventure. Float anywhere from a few feet to over a mile. Bring your own tube for a day of fun!.

Button Rock Preserve

Button Rock Preserve is located in a quiet river valley about 7 miles west of Lyons. The park creates a unique experience for visitors, providing opportunities to view wildlife, the natural environment and water management facilities at a close level. Trails within Button Rock Preserve offer scenic views and also enable anglers to access many backcountry fishing locations..

From Lyons follow Highway 36 towards Estes Park for 4 miles. Turn left at County Road 80/Longmont Dam Road and continue for 3 miles. Park along the road before the gate.

Hall Ranch

Hall Ranch provides over 12 miles of multiuse trails and consists of 3,206 acres of backcountry. A group shelter, which can accommodate up to 50 people, is available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The entrance to Hall Ranch is found on Highway 7, one mile west of Lyons.

Heil Valley Ranch

Heil Valley Ranch consists of 4,923 acres of backcountry. The 1.3-mile Lichen Trail, is only open to pedestrians. Two new multiuse trails opened last fall: the 2.5-mile Wapiti Trail and the 2.6-mile Ponderosa Loop Trail. They are open to hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians.

The entrance to Heil Valley Ranch is located on Geer Canyon Road off of Left Hand Canyon Road northwest of Boulder.

Lion Gulch Trail

The Lion Gulch Trail is a moderate hike ascending through the Roosevelt National Forest eventually leading to Homestead Meadows, where eight historical homesteads still remain. The homesteads were built in the late 1800's-early 1900's before most were abandoned. It is 2.7 miles to the first site, the length of the hike increases to 6.5 miles if all the homesteads are visited. The trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. It is a dog-friendly trail, too. The Lion Gulch trail also accesses Pierson Park.

Rabbit Mountain

Rabbit Mountain has multiuse trails and picnic tables available for visitors. Rabbit Mountain contains over 2,888 acres of backcountry. There are over 5 miles of multiuse trails.

Rabbit Mountain Open Space is located on North 53rd Street, about 15 miles north of Boulder off of Highway 66 approximately two miles east of Lyons.

Hours: Sunrise to Sunset, SE section closed Feb 1st to July 31st

Lyons Redstone Museum and Lyons Historical Society

Founded in 1973, the Lyons Historical Society saved from the wrecker's ball the Depot, built in 1894, now the Lyons Depot-Library, and the 1881 schoolhouse, now the Lyons Redstone Museum. Open daily June thru September. The Museum displays the History of the Lyons area in photos and displays. Genealogy files, gift shop and book sale. Lyons Historic District comprised of 15 sandstone buildings in the Lyons area. Pick up a brochure at the Museum or Visitor's Center for a Historical Drive-by (or walking) Tour. Lyons.
